![]() Used a cable fish attached to the old cable at the male/female connection area before pulling it down so it would be ready to pull the new cable back up at the firewall entrance.I didn't pull the passenger wheel, just rotated it and pulled the well liner away enough to access the firewall grommet. Some brief personal notes from the experience: Just wanted to say thanks for the write up! Completed this job successfully within a couple hours. I found this video to be helpful as I found my bearings. I failed to take photos during this process, but wanted to do a basic write up for anyone else who is in this situation. Once the old antenna base has been removed, reverse your steps to reinstall the new one.The worst parts were getting the clips and end of the cord through the firewall and getting the rubber grommet behind the windshield wiper reservoir. This took time but wasn't overly difficult. From here I tied twine to the end of the piece we're replacing and began pulling the cord for the antenna base toward the front of the truck.I used a long screwdriver to remove this and had no hope of getting the replacement clip in even with removing the lower glovebox and calling in backup in the form of my wife's tiny hands. It's between the wall of the body and the dashboard about 14 inches from the front of the dashboard. ![]() There is one more clip and it's a PITA to reach.Unplug the connector and pop the retainer clip that is next to the end. You will see the female end of the antenna cable (what you're replacing) near where the windshield and A pillar meet.Remove the trim panels on the A pillar.Pull the door gasket away from the body of the vehicle from the top front of the window to the bottom of front of the door.To do this slide the tabs at either end of the handle and use a socket to remove the bolts securing the handle to the body. Remove the passenger grab handle on the A pillar.Loosen the screws for the windshield washer fluid reservoir (this will enable you to pull the rubber grommet behind the reservoir for removal and replacement).Remove the second retainer clip for the wire and the rubber grommet that seals the firewall behind the engine. This is roughly 4 screws and 2 push pin body clips. Remove the front passenger wheel well.Use a flathead screwdriver or something similar to pop the retainer clip holding the antenna wire to the body next to the base.Remove the two bolts on the antenna base.I didn't remove mine entirely I simply rotated the cowling 90 degrees to get it out of the way of the antenna base. ![]() You'll want to be careful with the hose for the spray nozzles. Ry the Car Guy has a good video on this available here. I purchased from Valley Nissan for a reasonable price. The base itself is Nissan part #28206-EA000. The replacement process is pretty straightforward the only difficult part is removing the body clips for the piece that is being replaced. ![]() I ultimately decided to replace the base as there was no getting the bolt out (I'd damaged the threads at this point). I made every effort to remove the base with bolt extractor kits but had no luck. I recently purchased a 2014 Pro-4x knowing that the antenna base (where the antenna screws in) had a broken antenna rusted in. ![]()
